Thank you so much for this site Rob. I would like to be a web/graphic designer one day, and your site has inspired me even more. You actually helped me to undertand what HTML is how to use it. Also, the layouts are just excellent; I’ll probably use Iron Spider exclusively from now on.

  2. Rob says:

    Charlee,

Hey congratulations on starting web design school!

    TO ALL:

    Much thanks for your feedback!

  3. Charlee says:

Hi, Rob. I just looked at MySpace layout on a PC away from home. My layout is even more beautiful than I already knew it was! Sooo, that means I need to thank you again for your brilliance and generosity. God gave you so much talent. And I have something else to thank you for. The inspiration you gave me. I am now in school for web design. I’m learning Java# and Visual Basic programming languages…it’s a far cry harder than HTML but I’m finally writing programs. I’ll get there–someday. Your friend, Charlee.

  4. Wilma Benton says:

    Hi Rob,

I just want you to know that people like me wishes that there were more people like YOU. God Bless You. I am not a stupid person, I do have a college education, but never have been able to get the hang of “building websites, not even the templates that are so easy (ha). But thanks to you, I have a most beautiful MySpace site. My first invitation to become my FRIEND goes to you, come on over (www.myspace.com/wjb2008)!! Thank you again

  5. Amy says:

I was so sick of all the fetid garbage I was finding everywhere else and somehow, I came upon your oasis. Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving respite from all of the sparkly glitter-happy, malware spreading, common trash out there.

  6. Charlee says:

Rob, Rob, Rob…you are a baaaad man! And I do mean GOOD! I have acheived a beautiful, peaceful, private My Space page totally void of all the irritating, invasive and silly doo-dads My Space is notorious for. You should go on the home shopping network and sell your profile tweaker. I hope you’ll develop some backgrounds for Ning. It’s a wonderful network with real freedom to upload what you want to from your own files. Also methinks its the best because a woman founded it. Thanks for all you’ve given and taught me!

  7. Genevieve Smith says:

Thank you for your website. It was just what I was looking for. I was looking for a “how-to” on making a webpage offline in notepad, and I found it. :D You have made my day, and I just wanted to drop you a little “Thank You”… So… Thank You!! :D

    -MaidenBaka

  8. Nancy says:

Thank you so much for the myspace layout. I chose one of your simple red layouts and it’s awesome. I am like some of the others here that have made comments on other layouts on the net. I am 39 years old and I don’t like all of the fru fru pages. I want something simple like you had to offer so once again, Thank you.

    Nancy

  9. Margot says:

Thank you so much for this website. You’re a great teacher who uses fun. And, more importantly, makes it look possible to achieve, even for a first-timer!
    Thanks!!

    Best,
    Margot

  10. Deborah says:

I used your site and one of your templates to build my business site (still tweaking the contents). It was so easy, (considering I had no experience at all with html)that I included your site on my links page. Thanks so much for your tutorial!

  11. hoanje says:

Oh my gosh! I wish I had had stumbled across this site first! I wasted a lot of time, not getting anywhere. Your layout generator was so easy to use and I got just the results I wanted!

I’m going to refer everyone to this site.

    THANKS!!

  12. Ranger says:

Just wanted to say thanks for the tutorial on “customizing” HTML-Kit. I’m a web designer wanna be and all the options were a little over whelming. Now that I can part things down and actually see the editing window, the sea of web design doesn’t looks so inhospitable any more. Kudos on your site. I really enjoy it.

  13. Dj says:

Hey man, I just want to say how amazing your Myspace layouts are. They actualy have class. Every other layout on the internet is a recycled piece of garbage with shiny stuff wrapped together with cheap designs and graphics.
    Thanks so much ^.^
Nothing but your layouts for me.
My myspace deserves nothing but the best ;)

  14. Jennifer says:

WOWWWWW! Lightning speed! My page loaded like a stick o’ dynamite. I am REALLY impressed. I was SO fed up with layout sights like pyzam (I think that’s the name) and others that lock up my computer and take SOOOOOO long to load. Who has time for that??? So thank you. You really are a class act. Never thought I would be emailing to say thank you for a lay out. But your page actually sounds like there is a respectable human being with brains on the other side of it. Not some 14 year old with ADD. haha. Thanks again!!!
    Jennifer

  15. Rob says:

    Steve,

Did you see these example layouts? They’re as simple as can be…

    Example Table Layouts

  16. Steven Heller says:

I started with your 3 column simple page layout to create a home page for my wine store. It’s corkandoliveocoee.com Anyway I noodled around with your template using a book I bought. HtML Xhtml and css by Elizabeth Castro sixth edition.
Maybe you could post / create some more simple ones?

    Thanks

    Steve

  17. Rob says:

    Kevin,

I don’t understand your explanation nor exactly what you’re trying to accomplish. You said you tried using the <br> tag but it just shifted the photo down a few spaces? If you want the photos to stack vertically, simply select “center” for the ‘Select the alignment’ option. I took a look at your page and I’ve seen that you’ve done that and the photos are indeed stacking vertically. Everything looks fine. Maybe a little too much space between the photos. I also see that you stuck in some <br> tags. Remove those <br> tags to reduce the space between the photos. If you have any further issues, use the Profile Tweaker as intended and don’t try to modify the code afterwards. Get back to me with a description of the issue and PLEASE post your MySpace URL along with your comment. It saves me a lot of time having to hunt through my database. Thanks.

  18. Sara J. says:

I love your clarity and humor. As someone who knew nothing about html, etc., I have to say “thanks” for simplifying things.

  19. Kevin says:

Argh – it was the “br” tag that I mentioned…

  20. Kevin says:

    Hey Rob

I am have been using the Profile Tweaker for image coding but have one issue… instead of adding one photo beneath the other, they are adding side by side (in the Band Members area). How do I fix this? I have tried the tag but its not working. It just shifts the photo down a few spaces. I figure there has to be an easy way to do this. Thanks again for such stellar info!

    Cheers!

  21. Jessica G*Coffee says:

OH MY GAH! This is the most incredible gift of God in all of cyberspace!! I simply got sick of my layouts etc. from other generators either not showing up at all, or clearly dissatisfying my goals. So i googled for a free advanced myspace profile generator, and you were the number one link! I don’t think I’ll ever be the same! haha I fully intend to pass the word around. Wow this is the greatest thing ever!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STINKIN MUCH! I COULD JUST KISS YOU! lol :) God bless YOU! Praise Jesus. I’m so excited for my new journey! And when I get $12, I hope your limited time offer is still intact. ;] YEY!!!

  22. Amanda says:

I absolutely love your site; you have exactly what I have been looking for & although my MySpace page looks slightly different from the preview (which I can assure you is due to operator, i.e. my, error), I have to say that I think it looks rather spiffy.
Keep up the great work & have a good weekend!
    -Amanda :)

  23. Jae says:

    Hi, Rob,

You are a total freaking genius. Your website is concise, informative and incredibly enjoyable to peruse. I got a tremendous hoot out of your wry instructions for building a crappy web site. Finally, your myspace layout designs are just incredible…subtle, lush, beautiful to behold. Thank you for sharing your substantial gifts with us mere mortals!!

  24. Rob says:

    Dave,

    Not enough information.

  25. Dave says:

Cheers for the HTML-Kit setup guide – love the editor but after a fresh install I couldn’t figure out how to get my tabs working correctly again, disaster!

  26. Spiritwolf says:

This site is worth recommending to beginners in HTML and site building because:

Its tutorials are written simply and are easy to understand.
    Excellent examples and illustrations

  27. Rob says:

    Ric,

When you go into Safe Mode, click on the Edit link below your Bio box and you’ll be taken into the screen that has editable text boxes. Everything in those text boxes retains the original line breaks of the way you entered all your codes and stuff. You didn’t go far enough into Safe Mode. Go all the way. Click on Safe Mode and then click on the Edit link.

Re: Submitting my article to Digg – Thanks!

Re: Your banner – I see that you modified the banner code fix. However in this line of code:

    .bannerDIV {top: 220px;}

…you put too high of a number. Lower that number and your banner will move higher up. Keep adjusting that number until your banner is in position. It should be around 170px but that may vary according to the height of your banner.

  28. Ric says:

Me again! I put in your new header banner code fix, but it is still slightly out of alignment (paritally covering up the menu bar). “margin-bottom” changes the gap underneath the banner, but the {top} bit seems to have no effect. Thanks!

  29. Ric says:

By the way, I’ve submitted your “How To Make A Real Crappy Web Page” article to digg :-)

    http://digg.com/programming/How_To_Make_A_Real_Crappy_Web_Page

  30. Ric says:

Aha! I can get it in safe mode. Unfortunately, in safe mode there are no line breaks so all the different HTML things I have pasted in there are on big jumble…

I hope their changes are more than just cosmetic. I think MySpace is a mess behind the scenes…

  31. Rob says:

    Ric,

Wow… That’s pretty weird. Did you try clicking on Safe Mode? Not to invalidate your experience but I just tried my test band profile and I could load the Profile Edit screen no problem (or rather the ‘Safe Mode’ profile edit screen). Anyway, MySpace has been super-glitchy since they implemented the new profile changes. If the situation persists, just wait a few hours and try again.

  32. Ric says:

    Thanks Rob!

Unfortunately now they’ve broken the Edit Profile system so I can’t get at the HTML (it’s showing the options that would be there on a personal profile, and hiding the correct band ones, which contain the HTML.).

    Oh well…

  33. Rob says:

    Ric,

Yes those newfangled changes were particularly hard on all MySpace layouts (not just mine) that used a header banner. I have posted a quick copy-and-paste Header Banner Code Fix on my MySpace blog. Install that code fix and the positioning of your header banner will return to normal. The Super EZ Profile Tweaker will be updated ASAP (just waiting for the dust to settle with all the new code changes at MySpace).

  34. Ric says:

    Hi!

Unfortunately all the newfangled changes at MySpace seem to have broken layouts made with the Profile Creator – e.g. myspace.com/templescene

    :-(

  35. Rob says:

    TO ALL:

    Thanks for your feedback! :o)

    Dani,

    Wow. Far out. Congratulations!

  36. Dani Rose says:

    Thank you.
    Your site is so helpful.
I passed my XHTML finals with the help from your site.
    So Thanks again!

  37. Raj says:

Thanks for putting such a great support on the web, and that is free !
I am new to HTML. want to use all these hints possible.
    Great efforts !

    Thanks a lot

  38. Grandmaxtter says:

Thank you so very much for putting up the website templates. I am using on of yours at the moment and I just love it. Didn’t have any problem putting it full of php code afterwards.

Two thumbs up, keep up the good work!

  39. Emily says:

Thanks so much for the great information on your site!

  40. Matt says:

Terrific site, terrific MySpace layouts and generators, and a great bargain for the link removal license. What looked to be a bothersome, lengthy task after a few days of Googling, was made effortless for a small price. I got a clean looking professional MySpace site up and running in no time, and now I can concentrate on what I went there for. Also, top notch, honest customer service. They’re truly on top of things. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  41. Rob says:

    TO ALL:

    Thanks for your feedback! :o)

    Ric,

I don’t support putting the header banner above the MySpace ad because even though it is not mentioned in the MySpace Terms of Use agreement, pushing the MySpace ad down ‘below the fold’ steps on the spirit of the agreement. Social networks like MySpace are having a difficult time as it is monetizing their sites. Pushing the banner ad down ‘below the fold’ (below the fold = out of sight below the bottom edge of a user’s web browser when they first open a web page) only makes matters worse.

Re: Your suggestion to have the display name as a graphic.. duly noted. Thanks for your feedback.

  42. Ric says:

    Hi!

One more idea for EZ Profile creator – allowing the banner to be put at the very top, above the MySpace adverts, like this:

    myspace.com/shatteredatom

Also, if you look at their name (above the profile picture) they are actually using a graphic. I would love to be able to do this, or at least to change the font there.

    Thanks again!

    Ric – myspace.com/templescene

  43. Melissa says:

I commend you on your very informative site. I had never had anything to do with html code before but since following your guidelines I have been able to create my own web pages just the way I want them. There are alot of sites with readily made html codes for copying and pasting but I prefer to be creative and make my own. Finding your page was a godsend and I tell everyone who asks exactly that. A big thank you! Hugsssssssss

  44. shawn says:

the most helpful web design site on the net – hands down! this kind of information is extremely valuable and often only available for a price. we are all very fortunate that people like Bob take the time to share their knowledge with us.

    thank you very much!

  45. Kylee says:

I have been looking for a nice, clean, crisp layout for my book review MySpace for over a month. Your Professional MySpace Layouts 2 – 05 is perfect!

  46. mininchico says:

I am 46 years old. I don’t want the fru-fru glam layouts. I want a simple, productive layout that will express more of my personality. I have been through the flash toys and music players and I am now into minimalism fitting for my age and maturity. Thank you!!! I have bookmarked your page and will be using it often!!! You are definitely filling need here in the internet community.

  47. Sean says:

I enjoyed the site. I have to say the tutorials are refreshing compaired to some of the others I’ve seen on the web. Your definatly getting bookmarked. Which happens to very few sites. Props to yah. Anyway being somewhat experienced with web design. I realy enjoyed the “How to Make a Real Crappy Web Page”. You should make an example, ha, that would be good. I still have a lot left to look at but I hope there is info on creating a feedback page like yours. Currently I have a form that send an e-mail. Not exazactly what i’ve been trying for. I like how yours post to the page.

    Keep up the great work.

    TO ALL:

Much thanks for the feedback! :o)

    Ric,

Thanks for your input on the Super EZ Profile Tweaker. A clickable banner is doable. I’ll take that into consideration. Rollover buttons are impossible though because MySpace does not permit us to use Javascript. You can however use the Link Code Maker in the Profile Tweaker to make simple mouseover effects on links. Go to the Link Code Maker and select a background color under “Mouseover link styles”.

  49. Ric says:

Hi Rob – the EZ layout creator is great! One option that would be nice though – making the banner at the top clickable. Oh and another – rollover buttons. Thanks! :-)

Thank You, As a CTO with beginning skills in html, in the midst of redoing our web site came upon your site from a Google search. I referred to your site for reference many times. Here’s why, so many other sites want you to go frameless while reading the fine lines of the problems, I decided it was the simplest method to guarantee user browser preferences and multi browser compatibility. You state it right on and loud for us without egghead skills in web building, use tables. You got my love right there. Well written simple instructions in css has got my next redo already in the works while finishing this one in html 4.0 trad. This type of information and free templates will have me looking at any services you are, or will be offering in the future because of what you’ve done here without asking for anything but respect. When I get some time, Ill be back as I reward business with this type of behavior. Humble apologies but I have to ask ” Are you as good as you seem”
    Bob
