Web Log

Greetings and welcome to the new and improved version of my former web log (which was in fact just a couple of static web pages that I updated manually). The concept will be the same in that here you'll find news of all the latest additions and updates to Iron Spider (and possibly the odd blathering diatribe) with the exception being that the whole thing will be managed dynamically. To you, my dear reader, this means that:
  1. You can now post comments (wheeee!)
  2. The archives will be much easier to browse
Alright then, let's get to it...

Resize Pics Code Update

Posted by Rob on September 19th, 2007

The Resize Comments Pics code for MySpace profiles that appears on the 7 Easy Steps to a Kick Ass MySpace Layout page and in the Advanced MySpace Editor was updated today and fully tested in Internet Explorer 6 & 7 and in Firefox 2. It now makes use of one of the new class attributes available in the default MySpace template which makes it a leaner, meaner code (and is also fully compatible with MySpace Music profiles - a.k.a., band profiles).

Profile Tweaker Update

Posted by Rob on September 19th, 2007

Okay, I've been recently made aware that the Hide Code Generator in the Super EZ Profile Tweaker had a minor glitch. Formerly, when you selected to hide the 'Details' section, this would incorrectly move the Extended Network box up by 15 pixels. This glitch has now been corrected.

All Link Removal Licensees should visit the Super EZ Profile Tweaker download page to get the latest updated version of the Super EZ Profile Tweaker (the link and password to the download page is in the Link Removal License 'thank you' email that you received).

For all others who have no idea what I'm talking about here, check out this page for a special offer regarding Iron Spider MySpace layouts.

Also, if you are a Link Removal Licensee and you wish to be automatically notified whenever there is an update to the Profile Tweaker, you should sign up to the newsletter on the Profile Tweaker download page. It's free, it won't bite and I guarantee that you will receive no spam. This is strictly for important updates.

MySpace Layouts Updates

Posted by Rob on August 27th, 2007

Remaining ever vigilant on how my MySpace layouts display on MySpace profiles, I recently discovered that some of my layouts that employ the tweak to hide the MySpace header and footer links (Home, Browse, Search, etc.) will sometimes suppress the display of the banner ad appearing across the top (and to those who may be thinking, 'Yeah? So what? Cool!...' — NO WE DO NOT WANT THIS).

After considerable investigation, I discovered that the MySpace template will now sometimes wrap the banner ad —most particularly when image ads are being displayed— in an extra DIV element which then tests true for this line of code:

table tbody tr td div div {visibility: hidden;}

This line of code is used in my tweak to hide the footer links.

This issue has been corrected and all of the following layouts have been updated.

On the Free MySpace Layouts home page: Webmaster's Choice #1 - #5

In the Original MySpace Layouts series: All 5 layouts on this page

In the More Original MySpace layouts series: All 5 layouts on this page

In the Plain MySpace Layouts series - All the following were updated:

Plain Black MySpace Layouts - 01
Plain Black MySpace Layouts - 03

Plain Red MySpace Layouts - 02
Plain Red MySpace Layouts - 04
Plain Red MySpace Layouts - 05

Plain Blue MySpace Layouts - 01

Plain Yellow MySpace Layouts - 02

Plain Orange MySpace Layouts - 02
Plain Orange MySpace Layouts - 05

Plain Green MySpace Layouts - 03
Plain Green MySpace Layouts - 05

Plain Purple MySpace Layouts - 05

And finally, the code generated by the Hide Header/Footer links tweak in my Advanced MySpace Editor was updated as well.

If you were using one of these layouts, you can correct this issue by either reinstalling the layout code or by copy-and-pasting this quick fix code into the bottom of your 'About Me' box on your 'Edit Profile' screen:

That's it..

Have a good one!
